When connecting to a low building trying to connect at the same height can be problematic. On this project the Heritage team decided to go up, using a parapet wall along one side.

The final result is now the most used room in the house!

Two steel beams where then used sitting on the front brick pillars and running back to the existing house wall to support the feature glass lantern used the length of the new building.

The hardwood bay set forward from the brick pillars added an interesting feature to the projecting roof lantern.
