For this historic country house we had to not only satisfy Building control and the Planning Department, but also obtain listed building approval and approval from English Heritage. After much deliberation and negotiation we arrived at this stunning solution. A completely Hardwood Orangery was produced using our hand made sliding sash Georgian windows.

With access from both the kitchen and billiard room, the new area created has proved the most used room in the home. The casual atmosphere is the perfect environment to relax and the high specification of the work ensures year round comfort whatever the weather.

Of course one of the main features of any Orangery is the garden that surrounds it with French doors opening out onto your summer haven.

 

The crowning glory of any Heritage Orangery is it’s Hardwood lantern with electronically controlled roof vents. Tinted glass was not permitted so clear Pilkington suncool ‘HP’ was used in the lantern to reduce solar gain and maximise thermal efficiency.

At Heritage we pride ourselves on our attention to detail and our hand made Hardwood sliding sash windows are a good example of this. Using the latest in heat reflective glazing and draught proofing technology, while retaining the traditional chord and weight box design, we achieve the best of both worlds.

On the roof Heritage decking was formed using codes 5-7 lead stepped and breathing to comply with the lead associations guidelines.

 

 

 

 

With this building, as with all Heritage Orangeries, a steel cage was erected first to ensure the stability and long term integrity and investment value of the building. Our use of Hardwood when creating our pilasters and parapet cornice work ensure the long term sur-vival of the building, while the use of Sikkens microporous wood treatments ensures minimum maintenance.
